Auckland Academy Achieves Gold Rating in Sustainability Performance Framework
University recognised for sector-leading commitments to carbon reduction, biodiversity, and circular economy practices.
Auckland Academy has been awarded a Gold rating under the Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS) framework, cementing its position as one of the most environmentally responsible universities in the region.
The rating recognises achievements including 80% renewable energy generation on campus, a 45% reduction in waste-to-landfill since 2020, a campus-wide single-use plastic ban, and the establishment of native bush restoration corridors connecting the campus to the Auckland Domain.
"Climate action is not a side project — it is woven into everything we do, from curriculum design to procurement," said Sustainability Director Dr. Emily Green. "Our students graduate knowing that sustainability is not optional; it is foundational to every profession."
The university has pledged to reach net-zero Scope 3 emissions by 2035, with an interim target of 50% reduction by 2030.
